Checking – 7
Gerry McCann:
Police witness statement
On Wednesday night, 2 May 2007, apart from the deponent and his wife, he
thinks that DAVID PAYNE also went to his apartment to check that his children
were well, not having reported to him any abnormal situation with the children.
Gerry
McCanns police witness statements are of particular interest as, as we know he
changed them!
On
the night Madeleine disappeared we know he FIRST
told police he AND his wife, Kate McCann had entered the apartment the way they
had done throughout that week – by the FRONT door,
using his/her key to unlock it.
We
know he decided to change this statement, and DID,
telling police in his SECOND statement, days
after the child had disappeared, that he did not
enter by the front door but by the UNLOCKED PATIO DOOR
(BACK DOOR)
How
extraordinary that he could have forgotten such a thing, made such a mistake! He is so exact about the bedroom door how far
open it was, yet he could not remember which door he entered the apartment?
More
than a tad unbelievable I’m sure you will agree!
It
looks as though the good doctor’s memory has failed him once again, as he according to his police witness statement, above
extract “thinks” David Payne went to his (McCanns) apartment on Wednesday 2nd
May 2007 and checked on his children!
Further he seems to think that Payne reported to him that all was well with his children?
Perhaps
this might help refresh Dr Gerry McCanns memory:
David
Payne in response to police asking re the checking of his own and the children
of others responded:
‘During ALL the meals he NEVER went to
his apartment or to ANY of the group's apartments, because he has an,
"intercom," and the signal carries from the apartment to the
restaurant.’
So Dr Gerry McCann got it wrong again!
Dr Payne did not check
on the McCann children on the night of Wednesday 2nd May 2007, or any other night!
Dr Payne NEVER left the dinner
table on any of these nights! He and wife Fiona Payne had no need to, they had their trusty baby monitor to check on their children, why would they leave the table, disturb their meal for anyone else's children?
I might suggest that Dr McCann knew this AT THE TIME HE MADE HIS STATEMENT TO POLICE!
How could he not?
But if we are to play along, one might say it is
rather worrying that someone who holds a position such as Dr Gerry McCann does within
the medical profession, has such a poor memory!
McCann further states - and if this was not such a
serious matter, a child missing - one would find this extremely funny:
‘On this day, the deponent (Gerry McCann) and KATE
had already left the back door (patio) closed, but not locked, to ALLOW
ENTRANCE BY THEIR GROUP OF COLLEAGUES to check on the children.’
So Gerry and Kate McCann had already by
the night of Wednesday 2nd May changed routine not now using the
front door in the evenings but leaving the patio door unlocked so that the group
of colleagues could enter their apartment and check on their children!
Funny that, none of the group of colleagues took advantage of Gerry’s gesture,
leaving a door unlocked for them, perhaps because, as we can
see from the colleagues’ statements to police, NONE of them checked on the
McCann children, and NONE of them knew of any such arrangement!
And again, I might suggest Gerry McCann knows this!
Why would McCann make such statements when he knew they
were not true?
